National home improvement chain files bankruptcy, will close 94 stores, including one in Alabama [Video]

National home improvement chain LL Flooring filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Sunday and will close almost 100 locations.

Formerly known as Lumber Liquidators, the company plans to sell its remaining locations. Going-out-of-business sales have started at 94 locations, including the LL Flooring location in Tuscaloosa.

“LL Flooring is generally operating in the normal course through this process and remains focused on providing customers with a broad range of hard and soft surface flooring and an exceptional shopping experience,” the chain said in a statement. It will continue to operate some 300 stores across the country.

The chain cited challenges due to inflation and rising cost of labor and a cool down in customer spending as reasons for its filing. It is in negotiations with “several bidders” regarding its future, if added.

Closures are planned for:

Tuscaloosa, AL

Arizona

Mesa, AZ

Phoenix, AZ

Prescott Valley, AZ

California
