N3 traffic increases as holidaymakers return from coastal areas – SABC News [Video]

Traffic volumes have increased on the N-3 in KwaZulu-Natal as motorists started to head home from Durban and other coastal areas.

At its peak, over 1 500 vehicles per hour were recorded passing through the Mariannhill toll plaza at Pinetown from between 8 o’clock and 12 midday on Saturday.

The N3 Toll Concession also says that traffic from the province heading inland has been increasing since New Year’s Day, with a peak of 1-thousand 800 vehicles per hour recorded on Friday.

Holidaymakers have begun making their way back home after the festive season.

Long queues

There were long queues of cars at the Marriannhill toll plaza near Pinetown on Saturday.

The N3TC cautioned road users to remain patient and alert while behind the wheel as high traffic volumes were likely to result in traffic congestion and delays along the route.
