BREMER COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – Multiple crews responded to a field fire that started in Black Hawk County and ended in Bremer County on Thursday.
Bremer County Emergency Management said it started on the north side of C57 in Black Hawk County and traveled three miles, stopping at 270th Street in Bremer County due to 20-30 mph wind gusts and severe drought conditions.
First responders had to close down E Marquis due to a plume of smoke that was going across the road, causing visibility concerns.
Two homes in the path of the fire had to be evacuated for safety, and crews worked to protect the homes.
