Middle school robotics championship kicks off in Wichita [Video]

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – It’s a battle of the bots in Wichita. Middle schools across Kansas are competing in the VEX Robotics state championship.

The 28 teams are competing in skill competitions. Judges then go through their engineering notebooks and interview them. The skills picked up at this competition are not limited to robotics.

“You have to know how to build, you have to learn how to code, you have to learn how to work with teammates, you have to time management showing up on time being prepared it doesn’t matter what field they go into those skills are going to serve them well,” said Trevor Foreman, a robotics teacher at Hesston High School.
