Memorial Block Gateway Pre-Development Agreement unanimously passes at Burlington City Council [Video]

Burlington City Council’s agenda Monday night featured voting on a pre-development agreement on the Memorial Block Gateway project.After a lot of discussion between the city’s community and economic team and the proposed developers, city councilors ultimately unanimously approved the preliminary agreement.Councilors, like Central District’s Melo Grant, shared why she decided to say yes.“It’s had the issues of people breaking in and trying to live in there,” Grant said. “It’s just something that needs to be dealt with so we can move on as a community.”The city can now move forward with a public-private partnership with two developers.They are Eric Farrell and Joe Larkin.Those developers are now allowed to evaluate Memorial Auditorium, which has been sitting empty for eight years, ever since it was officially deemed unsafe.
