Man on a Mission: Walking the Lenten Journey for Charity – Erie News Now [Video]

Dave Piotrowicz is walking with a purpose, despite a series of health setbacks.

Monday through Friday every week of Lent, Piotrowicz is waking half a mile a day to raise money for local nonprofits. This year, all of the money that he raises will go to the Erie Cursillo movement, Erie Homes for Children and Adults, and Meals on Wheels.

“There are people in need,” said Piotrowicz. “Some days you just smile at somebody, and it makes their day. It’s what you do.”

Piotrowicz has developed a big heart for helping others after he spent 6 months in the Cleveland Clinic getting a heart transplant 15 years ago. 

Piotrowicz’s Lenten Journey started 4 years ago. The first year, he walked 45 miles on the indoor track at the Eastside YMCA and collected $1,800.
