Longueuil police say 11 more alleged victims have come forward after releasing information about a man who they say has defrauded multiple homeowners on Montreal’s South Shore.

Police announced the arrest of Patrice Lamer, 42, on Tuesday morning after the accused allegedly asked for deposits for home repairs ranging from $450 to $3,700 in cash and then either did half the job or never did it all.

Fraud amounts exceeded $40,000, according to a news release, and the accused also offered other services, including painting, balcony repairs and interlocking paving.

Officers were initially contacted by several victims in Brossard, as well as one in Longueuil’s Saint-Hubert neighbourhood.

As police investigated, more victims came forward, resulting in at least 20 criminal complaints this year in five different cities.

Police spokesperson Mélanie Mercille told CTV News that more alleged victims came forward on Tuesday.
