MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) – New development could be coming to an area near Flora after Madison County Supervisors heard zoning arguments over property along Highway 22 and Livingston Vernon Road.
Madison County Supervisors heard arguments Monday over how a piece of property, less than an acre in size, should be zoned “Commercial-2″.
While a zoning decision was presented to supervisors, debate centered around what type of commercial business could become neighbors to a small church.
“We’re talking about rezoning the sleepy little land next door to even a lot more commercial, at least from our perspective,” Mark Morgan, a member of Damascus Baptist Church, explained.
On the edge of the intersection sits Paul Hopper’s property and Damascus Baptist Church.
Since 1964, the land has been zoned Commercial. However, in 2019, all but 0.94 acres were somehow changed to Agricultural.
