Loyal McQueen has been a competitor for as long as she can remember. Growing up in Florence, South Carolina, that competitive edge would often come out when she was with her sister, London.”Whether it was running, she would play defense on me, or we would do shooting contests- always competitive when it came to us,” McQueen said.Loyal’s dad, Derrick, was also a high-level competitor who played basketball at Wake Forest.”He kind of introduced me to it a little bit but he let me find my way for it on my own,” Loyal said.McQueen had a natural feel for the game at an early age. As a freshman, she was playing on Wilson high school’s varsity team. Division I offers poured in from schools like South Carolina and Virginia Tech.
