Louisiana legislators have funded the Summer EBT program. According to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Rep. Jack McFarland confirmed the program is funded and families will be able to use money from the program starting June 4. McFarland, the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget Vice Chairman, the committee that controls the budget for the state, thanked legislators who helped reinstate the funding to the program. The money will help families buy food while kids are out of school for the summer.This money was part of a pandemic relief program that Louisiana decided not to join this year. Louisiana was only responsible for the administrative cost, around $3 million. According to Congressman Troy Carter, legislators will likely use money from the general fund for the program.
