Local business lands contract to make USAFA sabers in Colorado Springs [Video]

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — He’s been a winner on the hit show “Forged in Fire,” now Kilroy’s Workshop owner Ron Hardman has a new victory: bringing the manufacturing of the United States Air Force Academy’s (USAFA) famed sabers to America.

“They were making them over in Germany,” Hardman said. “We’ve been doing maintenance on Air Force Academy sabers for the last four or five years and we just started talking about manufacturing them here in the United States.”

Kilroy’s Workshop is not just home to manufacturing, but to learning, too.

“We work with so many military groups, both active duty and veterans. I’m from a military family, so I really appreciate the military,” Hardman noted.

As what’s next for the sabers? “West Point is also made over in Germany so maybe in a year or two….” Hardman said.
