Land on Va. 210 in Madison Heights rezoned for industrial [Video]

An area of about 93 acres on Virginia 210 in Madison Heights recently was rezoned from a public lands, P-1, zoning district to Industrial, M-1, at the request of the Economic Development Authority of Amherst County.

The Amherst County Board of Supervisors and planning commission each voted in favor of the rezoning during a joint meeting March 19. Tyler Creasy, director of community development, said the property is vacant and the EDA is applying for a Virginia business readiness grant.

“The money from the grant will allow the EDA to investigate the use of the property,” Creasy said. “The grant will also pay for the due diligence that is needed to mitigate any risk for a developer.”

The EDA has made it to the third round of the grant process and one of its requirements is the property must be zoned M-1, Creasy said.
