K-9 New Life rescue organization receives grant from the TEGNA Foundation [Video]

The organization brings elderly and sick pets out of shelters and places them in foster homes.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — It’s still the holiday season and with that, 13News Now continues to surprise local non-profits with financial gifts through our parent company TEGNA and the TEGNA Foundation. 

Each organization has stopped by our studio for what they think is an interview solely on their mission but has left with a holiday surprise. 

K-9 New Life President Kathy Horton paid us a visit on Friday. For 25 years, the Virginia Beach-based organization has been giving shelter dogs a second chance. 

Horton explained, “We pull dogs from animal shelters, and most of the dogs we pull are older dogs, senior dogs, dogs with health issues.”

Horton has been with the organization for more than two decades. She said she has a soft spot for older pets and those that need a little extra care.
