OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A major court decision came down Wednesday in a shocking murder case where one of the suspects was 11 years old.
Last August, Mursal Jama was shot and killed in Omaha as he got home from work. Investigators arrested six individuals for the murder, ranging in ages form 11 to 17.
Now, the 11-year-old won’t be facing charges anymore.
After medical professionals said the 11-year-old was not competent to stand trial, Douglas County Juvenile Court Judge Chad Brown dismissed the murder and robbery case against him, along with three previous cases involving guns and care theft.
The youngster will remain in a group home, but it’s unclear for how long.
“The court ordered [the case to be] sealed,” said Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine. “I can’t really comment much on it with an order entered. It ends the case case. It ends the jurisdiction of the juvenile court in this situation.”
