Joe Rogan has some outlandish ideas for the future of MMA.
The popular podcaster has been commentating on UFC fights since 1997 and has seen the promotion evolve from ‘human cockfighting’ to a £17.3billion business.
Despite the incredible growth of MMA, he’s not happy with the current rules and believes they have taken the sport away from its roots.
During a recent interview with Max Holloway, Rogan suggested several things he’d change if he governed MMA.
Some of the 56-year-old’s rule changes were as simple as legalising knees and kicks to the head of grounded fighters and scrapping the controversial ban on downward elbow strikes.
However, he made other suggestions that would change MMA forever.
Rogan wants the UFC to do away with the Octagon and instead have fighters compete in a big open space, which he compared to a padded basketball court.
