Hurricane Milton Could Bring 15ft Storm Surge. Here’s What that Looks Like [Video]

Storm surges up to 15 feet above ground level are expected along Florida’s west-central coast, driven by the incoming Hurricane Milton.

Milton is expected to impact the densely populated region in the early hours of Thursday morning, bringing heavy rain, powerful winds as well as devastating storm surges. In response, over a million residents have evacuated as final preparations to secure properties are underway.

In 2022, Hurricane Ian brought a 15-foot storm surge to Fort Myers Beach in Florida, ripping away homes from their slabs, wrecking businesses and leaving a trail of debris and destruction.

Storm chaser Max Olson uploaded a video showing the massive 15-foot surge completely destroy a home and batter past telephone poles and palm tress.
