ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Two Atlanta men got stranded on a North Carolina mountain due to Hurricane Helene.
Kyle Vargas and his brother thought they were taking a quick work trip to the Carolinas until they saw the forecast for the hurricane.
“I was like, I ain’t trying to be trapped on no mountain. You know? Far away from home. My wife all the way in Atlanta,” said Vargas.
They were staying at a mountain house in Creston, North Carolina. The driveway got washed away.
“We had to climb over trees. We had to crawl under trees. We had to walk through the mud that came from the landslides,” said Vargas.
