NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Update: The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the owner of the dog in a ravine that a trooper found in Dickson County on Wednesday has been found.
THP said a trooper working a traffic incident was alerted to a dog in a ravine near the scene, so the trooper, a Tennessee Department of Transportation employee and a citizen worked together to rescue the dog.
The citizen took the dog, whose name is Apollo, was taken to the Dickson County Humane Society (DCHS) where he was treated by a veterinarian.
THP said Apollo did have to have surgery and is currently recovering.
Apollo’s owner was able to be tracked down by DCHS with assistance from THP. Plans are being made to reunite them.
