CATOOSA, Okla. — The Grand River Dam Authority gave a first look at the massive gas turbine that will be placed in the Grand River Energy Center in Chouteau.
The massive gas turbine was brought up all the way from Savannah, Georgia to the Port of Catoosa. Once it’s up and running, it will provide electricity to more than 2,000 homes and businesses in Oklahoma.
“What we are seeing all across the country is an increase in demand for electricity,” said Justin Alberty, the spokesperson for Grand River Dam Authority. “It just continues to go up, so we want to be out ahead of that.”
Alberty said this massive gas turbine will be replacing Unit 2 at the Grand River Energy Center in Chouteau, which has been running off of coal since the 1980s.
