Friday Football Fever Week 12: Playoffs get started for Tennessee schools [Video]

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) -At long last, the TSSAA Football Playoffs are underway, and teams across the area hoped Friday was the start of a magical run to a state championship.

In our Game of the Week, Region 8 1A champions MASE began their playoff march at home against Lake County. The Phoenix looked every bit like a #1 seed, dominating from start to finish for a 46-0 victory.

Quarterback Brody Whittaker threw for four touchdowns, sophomore Kadience Nelson caught three of them, and Christopher Watson found the end zone twice.

The Phoenix will host South Fulton in the second round next week.

Other games featured this week include:

• Defending 6A state champions Houston cruising over Dickson County 42-7
• Southwind defeating Hendersonville in a 5A matchup 39-20
• Sheffield falling at home to Bolivar Central 36-32
