First responders remember the life of Ty Voth [Video]

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Condolences have been pouring in from across the country for Wichita firefighter Ty Voth, who died Thursday responding to a house fire near Haysville.

It’s painful for many in the first responder community. Voth’s former captain said he would’ve been a lifelong firefighter and said he died doing what he loved: helping others.

“It hit home, it hit home hard, in my heart, mind and soul,” said Manhattan Fire Captain Micah Hydeman.

Voth’s first job outside of school was working for the MFD under Hydeman.

Hydeman said Voth put in extra hours and did the tasks no one else wanted to do. He said he got the news of Voth’s disappearance while out to dinner with his family, calling it a gut punch.
