FC United in Cedar Rapids wins two national championships [Video]

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – It has been a great summer for the FC United Soccer Club in Cedar Rapids, and they capped it off by bringing home two championship cups from the 23rd annual national club championships in Denver.

The U17 girls team had to come from behind to beat Virginia 3-1 in the championship game led by a hat trick from Linn-Mar star Abi Roberts.

“It really felt great especially being down 1-0 to come back,” said Roberts. “It was an amazing feeling. I feel like we all were so excited to be rewarded for the hard work,”

“It was great feeling, especially with all the hard work that we put in throughout the tournament,” said Lani Kuntz of the U17 team. “Just getting that final feeling and lifting up that cup was an amazing feeling.”
