A family who lost their home after a plane crash is now suing the aircraft’s owner and its homeowner’s insurance company. The lawyer of the property owner claims several protocols were not followed before the crash.On July 18, 2023, Randolph Sherman had just taken off from the Santa Fe Regional Airport, and about one minute into the flight, he ran into trouble.Sherman radioed air traffic control that one of his two engines had failed, and according to the new lawsuit, Sherman made a fatal mistake.”The pilot upon loss of power from an engine should have flown straight and used the remaining engine to gain altitude,” Brian Egolf, a lawyer representing the Benavidez family, said.
