A Burlington home has been deemed uninhabitable after a fire this morning, according to a news release from the City of Burlington.
Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire in the 600 block of S. Seventh Street on Friday, August 30 at about 9:29 a.m. When they arrived, they saw flames coming from the single-family residence. The residence did have working smoke alarms at the time of the fire. Five dogs were rescued and are reported to be healthy. Burlington Animal Control is assisting with the animals because the house is considered uninhabitable.
Alliant Energy and Gas, West Burlington Fire Department, Des Moines County Sheriff Office, Burlington Police Department, Burlington Animal Control and the American Red Cross assisted at the scene. Operations were completed and all crews returned to service at 11:39 a.m. The fire has been classified as accidental and is not considered suspicious.
