Disaster Declaration still in effect in Teller County, county crews say they are making progress after massive snowstorm [Video]

TELLER COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) – A disaster declaration in a Southern Colorado county remains in effect just days after snow measured in feet. Search and rescue teams along with first responders worked tirelessly to help people stuck in their homes and on the road.

Teller County crews are still working on getting to some of the more rural parts of the county but said they are making progress. County leadership is speaking about the incredible efforts from the community and first responders.

“I was a little bit worried on how we were going to do with the infrastructure for county. We haven’t had this snow in many years,” said Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell.

Teller County is no stranger to excessive snowfall, but last week’s storm put a strain on county resources.
