Dillon crews work to clear last flooded area after Tropical Storm Debby [Video]

DILLON, S.C. (WBTW) — City crews in Dillon are working hard to clear one of the last flooded areas in town, specifically on W. Calhoun Street.

According to officials, this is one of the final spots where water has been slow to drain after Tropical Storm Debby passed threw the area.

Crews on Friday pumped water from two homes in the area, helping residents return inside. Water surrounds both properties, with the backyards completely submerged.

At one home, only a portion of the fence remains visible above the flood water. The front steps of both homes are blocked off, with watermarks on the bricks showing how high the floodwaters once rose.

Mayor Tally McColl explained that although the storm water system has functioned well, crews are using pumps to divert the water from these two properties into the park across the street to speed up the process.
