Devastating apartment fire leaves desperate families in need [Video]

ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) – A devastating apartment fire in Enterprise displaced nearly 40 people on Saturday morning, leaving families in desperate need.

The fire, which began in a first-floor apartment, quickly devoured all eight units of the Castle Ridge Apartments building.

Firefighters and rescuers responded to emergency calls after occupants tried to put out the fire but found the fire extinguisher did not work, according to Enterprise Fire Chief Christopher Davis in a Facebook post from the department.

Along with the malfunctioning fire extinguisher, fire alarms within the home were also disconnected.

Two firefighters were injured during rescue attempts; both have since recovered.

After the fire left 37 people with nowhere to go, volunteers quickly stepped in to help needy families by providing shelter.

Luckily, no residents were injured during the fire. However, while displaced families may now have rooves over their heads, the disastrous flames took food, clothing, memories and more.
