Deputy running for sheriff defends actions before Lewiston shooting [Video]

The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office deputy criticized by the commission investigating the Lewiston mass shooting is defending his actions in a new interview with Maine’s Total Coverage. “There are factual errors in the report, which frustrate and anger me,” said Sgt. Aaron Skolfield. Skolfield is now running for sheriff against his boss, Sheriff Joel Merry. In September, Skolfield responded to Card’s Bowdoin home for wellness checks in response to claims he threatened to “shoot up” the U.S. Army Reserve center in Saco. Card didn’t come to the door and Skolfield never saw him, but the deputy insists he did all he could based on the information provided to him.
