Advocates, elected officials, college and high school students recognized Denim Day in Milwaukee on Wednesday.Denim Day is an international campaign raising awareness and support from victims of sexual violence. The idea started decades ago, when the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction, claiming the victim must have helped the attacker take off her tight jeans.Dawn Helmrich remembers her attack like it was yesterday.”They put my bra around my face and kidnapped me and took me to a separate location, and I was raped by all three of them,” she said.
