Danish retailer JYSK is to open ‘a dark store’ in Dublin to reduce delivery times for online orders.
The ‘dark store’ is not a high street shop customers can visit, but a small warehouse with racking and shelves only for online shopping.
It will have all of the products stocked in the retailer’s shops, plus additional items, which can be delivered directly to customers across the country.
JYSK said this will help significantly to reduce the delivery times to customers, as they will get their deliveries from the dark store located near them instead of the distribution centre in Denmark.
Online customers here will be able to get their deliveries from the new dark store from November.
The dark store, which is around 8,000 square meters, will also house a new head office for JYSK in Ireland.
