Curfew set on Anna Maria Island after Hurricane Helene [Video]

There will be no power or water for several days, officials said.

HOLMES BEACH, Fla. — A curfew has been implemented for all three cities on Anna Maria Island after Hurricane Helene left a severe storm surge and flooding throughout the Tampa Bay area.

According to the City of Holmes Beach, the curfew is from dusk until dawn and no one can walk or drive around the island between these hours. 

There will be no power or water for several days, officials said.

“This is for the safety of everyone and to protect the homes and businesses on the island,” city leaders said.

As of Friday evening, Marine Rescue was actively searching neighborhoods for people who stayed on the island and needed help evacuating. 

In addition, Manatee County Transportation is providing buses to those who need to be taken from the island to a Red Cross shelter.
