Crews put out 2-alarm fire in St. Petersburg [Video]

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Crews put out a two-alarm fire Friday evening in St. Petersburg.

The fire happened at about 5:50 p.m. at a two-family home in the 2700 block of 15th Avenue North, fire officials said.

The fire was coming from the roof of a rear detached two-story apartment.

Everyone was evacuated by the time officials arrived. No injuries were reported but two people were checked out at the scene, according to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue.

“We got on scene soon enough to make sure that it didn’t affect the main house,” Capt. Garth Swingle said. “It definitely was working that way, but we got the hoses there fast enough to make sure it stopped it from getting to the home.”

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
