CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Art Ramos Jr and his wife Kay Ramos were celebrating their 36th anniversary when news that Beryl was headed to the Coastal Bend changed their plans from a relaxing weekend at the Omni, to a home project.

“Yeah, you just don’t know, we have too much to lose. We work so hard for our stuff, so we have to board up. Take care of what’s inside”, said Ramos.

And although the hurricane missed us this time, they say those preps weren’t a waste.

“No, not at all! You know, this is mother nature, they’re the boss,” said Ramos.

The Ramos’ aren’t alone in their efforts. As you drive down the streets of Corpus Christi, plywood on the windows is the latest trend.
