Construction begins on 607 homes in Donabate [Video]

Construction has commenced on the Corballis East development in Donabate, Co Dublin, one of the largest residential developments in Ireland in recent years.

Meitheal Architects has partnered with Cairn Homes to begin building 607 of the 1,074 planned homes after planning permission was granted in March.

The development will consist of 171 apartments of varying sizes across seven blocks, one of which will be an age-friendly sheltered housing block; 399 terraced apartments, duplexes and triplexes; and 504 homes ranging from two to five bedrooms.

It will also feature amenities including two childcare facilities, three retail units, two café units, a medical centre, and a community centre.

Provision will also be made for the transformation of thirteen hectares of the site nearest the Broadmeadow estuary into the Corballis Nature Reserve, which will be maintained in partnership with Fingal County Council.
