Community reacts to future turf field in Charleston [Video]

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A new turf field is on the way to the capital city.

Mayor Amy Goodwin announced the investment to turf the North Charleston multi-use athletic field for baseball, football, and soccer — bringing the total number of turfed city-owned athletic fields to 11.

“Well, I think anything that the city of Charleston does to encourage kids and adults to get out and about is a great idea, so I am certainly in favor of something like that. I think it is important for everybody’s health, and long-term it becomes a habit to be out and about and doing stuff,” resident Anne Gentry said.

City Council approved the contract with Fieldturf USA during Monday’s meeting.
