OXFORD, CT (WFSB) – Folks in Oxford continue to clean up from Sunday’s historic flooding.
Neighbors took it upon themselves to help those in need.
The American Red Cross set up on Quarry Rock on Route 67 to offer its support with multiple restaurants providing free meals for first responders and their families.
“Our disaster services team is set up to help those folks. We’ll go out to do damage assessment on their property, help align them to agencies like FEMA and other local agencies here,” said Mark Rozelle, American Red Cross.
TEAM Inc., a nonprofit that helps those in need in the lower Naugatuck Valley, along with the Red Cross provided clean up kits, water, and food on Wednesday.
That torrential rain caused rivers and brooks to swell and the rapids to plow through homes and businesses. It washed out roads, wiped out bridges, and left debris and destruction all over town.
