Colorado wildfire kills at least 1 north of Denver as firefighters continue to attack blaze on all fronts [Video]

DENVER – Hundreds of firefighters are working to extinguish several wildfires that ignited in Colorado, including the Stone Canyon Fire, which has left at least one person dead.

During a news conference on Wednesday, Boulder County Sheriff Curtis Johnson said the fire near Lyons has impacted at least five structures, and crews are still working to figure out what the hardest-hit areas impacted by the Stone Canyon Fire look like.

Johnson said human remains were discovered in one of the buildings destroyed by the blaze.

“So, I can confirm for you that we do have one fatality associated with this fire,” Johnson said. “I’m not going to provide any more details because it’s an active investigation that our detectives, along with fire investigators, will be conducting throughout the day.”

Evacuation orders that were implemented when the Stone Canyon Fire broke out Tuesday have been lifted after the blaze began to burn away from the town.
