Cochran couple opens the city’s first liquor store, after dry status dropped [Video]

Friday, the city’s first liquor store opened for business; this comes a year after officials dropped its dry status and approved licenses for hard liquor sales. 

“It keeps everybody from having to run out the county line all the time, and people got a shorter drive,” Mark Watts said while visiting the new store.

It’s called 7 Star Package and it’s co-owned by Andy and Bijal Ravleker. 

Andy said the store is named after Bijal, and so is their convenience store which sits next door, Lucky Lady. Since 2021, the husband and wife duo said they spent time petitioning, an effort that paid off because Andy received his liquor license from the city and state, this year. 

Now — their shelves are stocked just before the Christmas holiday.
