CHICAGO — Tragedy struck the city’s southwest side as a Chicago police officer was shot and killed while on his way home from work. The victim, identified as 30-year-old Luis M. Huesca, was heading home and still in uniform but wearing a customary cover-up when he was shot multiple times in the early hours of Sunday. He was later pronounced dead at a Chicago hospital.

Authorities have not yet provided a motive for the incident, and police have not disclosed whether the attack was part of a carjacking, although the officer’s vehicle was taken. There is currently no suspect in custody.
