Cat saved from fire after stove turned on while owners away [Video]

ANN ARBOR, MI – A cat was rescued from a house fire Saturday in Ann Arbor after a stove was unintentionally turned on and ignited items on the stove top.

Fire crews were called to the home in the 2900 block of Lakeview Drive at 4:42 p.m. Aug. 3,, according to the Ann Arbor Fire Department, adding that arriving crews found an active fire in the kitchen

The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire, but there was a cat found inside that was rescued and taken to o the Emergency Veterinary Hospital, 5245 Jackson Road, for treatment for smoke inhalation. The cat is expected to make a full recovery, officials said.

The home sustained extensive smoke damage estimated at more than $100,000, officials said.
