WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Cameron Art Museum (CAM) is holding its largest exhibition of a permanent collection ever mounted.
‘Close to Home’ features over 200 works that tell the story of CAM and the community, celebrating works by artists that explore images of people and places that evoke the spirit of community and the idea of home.
The exhibit features Josef Albers, Romare Bearden, Mary Cassatt, Diego Camposeco, Elisabeth Chant, Minnie Evans, Maud Gatewood, Claude Howell, Hiroshi Sueyoshi, and many others.
“From artists who are synonymous with the Cape Fear Region like Claude Howell to contemporary artists Faith Ringgold and Diego Camposeco, this exhibition tells a story unlike any other: a story of an art museum that belongs uniquely to southeastern North Carolina,” CAM Executive Director Heather Wilson said.
