JONESBORO, Ga. — Families in Clayton County are rallying together as they support loved ones who lost their homes in the devastating California wildfires. Among them is Clayton County Commissioner DeMont Davis, who is speaking out about the devastation in his hometown of Altadena and the long road to recovery.
“My mom lost her home. It burned to the ground,” Davis said, describing the emotional toll of watching the destruction from more than 2,000 miles away. “And my father was evacuated from his place. It’s still standing with the winds. We don’t know…how long it will be standing, but it’s smoky. So, even if he had to go back, it has to be thoroughly cleaned.”
