Benefit fundraiser to remember Pa. winery founder whose passions touched many lives [Video]

Christine Carroll was the heart and soul of a family-run winery that has been among the best-known for several decades in Philly’s suburbs.

Crossing Vineyards & Winery was founded by Christine and Tom Carroll Sr. and son Tom Jr. in 2000, with the first vines planted on the 20-acre property with its historic 200-year-old home the following year. The winery, at 1853 Wrightstown Road, opened for business in 2003.

Few in the region did a better job of marketing the Bucks County winery and its wines than Christine, herself a writer who published four children’s books, including “I Love You Better Than Pizza,” creating the character Princess Ava after her granddaughter Ava. She wrote stories for Wines & Vines magazine and also composed a monthly column, Through the Grapevine, for the Inter-County Newspaper Group that ran for nearly two decades.

Her novel, “Two Pennies Overboard,” is to be published later, her husband told The Philadelphia Inquirer for her obituary.
