BAY CITY, Mich. (WJRT) – The State Theatre in Bay City has filed for bankruptcy and will likely be closing by the end of the month.
This is all happening as an FBI investigation continues into how the State Theatre got into the financial shape they are in. ABC 12 is learning that a loan the theatre received in 2020 may have been fraudulently obtained.
Management has confirmed the decision to file for bankruptcy by the end of the month to ABC 12. The theatre will be going out soon, at least for the time being.
“The State Theatre has been kind of a staple landmark in downtown Bay City for as long as I can remember,” says Gabe Windt, owner of Area 13 Tattoo.
