NORTH CAROLINA IS SET TO BECOME THE SEVENTH MOST POPULATED STATE IN THE COUNTRY BY THE EARLY 2030S. THAT IS ACCORDING TO THE U.S. CENSUS BUREAU. DAVIDSON COUNTY SCHOOLS TRYING TO GET AHEAD OF THAT GROWTH. SUPERINTENDENT DOCTOR GREG SLATE SAYS THE SUPPLY CHAIN FOR BUSINESSES IN AND AROUND THE PIEDMONT TRIAD RUN THROUGH DAVIDSON COUNTY, MAKING IT AN ATTRACTIVE PLACE TO LIVE. DOCTOR SLATE SAYS THERE ARE MORE THAN 3000 HOUSING UNITS BEING BUILT ACROSS THE COUNTY, WHICH MEANS MORE STUDENTS. THE SCHOOL SYSTEM HIRED A DEMOGRAPHER FROM NC STATE UNIVERSITY TO STUDY WHERE THE POCKETS OF GROWTH ARE, AND WHICH SCHOOLS WILL BE IMPACTED. I THINK ITS IMPORTANT FOR OUR BOARD OF EDUCATION TO BE ABLE TO MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS ON ON THE SCHOOLS GROWING, AND WE MAY NEED TO LOOK AT EXPANSION AT THAT SCHOOL. OR DO WE NEED TO LOOK AT BUILDING NEW SCHOOLS AND REACHING OUT TO OUR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AND SAYING, HERES WHERE OUR GROWTH IS, AND WERE GOING TO NEED A NEW SCHOOL IN THAT AREA.
