SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3)—With so much data online nowadays, it’s essential to protect your online data.

Pamela Hernandez with Better Business Bureau says checking privacy settings in apps and browsers is essential.

“Checking your privacy settings on apps, devices, internet browsers that you use on a regular basis can go a long way and to check in with businesses that you’ve purchased from to see what kind of data they’re collecting on your purchase history,” said Hernandez.

You also want to consider keeping as much information private as possible.

“People don’t think about or who can see your social media post. Sometimes, we share information online that we don’t want the world to see. So you can set those profiles to private,” said Hernandez.
