Experts say simple household items can be used to cover up exposed pipes.
HOUSTON — As we brace for another arctic blast in the Houston area, experts say now is the time to start preparing and weatherizing your home. However, if you find yourself in a bind, we talked to an expert about some simple cold-weather hacks you can use to protect your pipes from freezing temperatures.
The items we’re about to use are things you can easily find around your house — like towels, pool noodles, and even Styrofoam cups. Experts say these can be used to cover up exposed pipes.
“So here’s an outside riser. One thing we definitely want to do is disconnect your water hose. You do not want your water hose disconnected because water is going to be in here,” John Eccles, with Nick’s Plumbing and Air Conditioning, said.
He knows a thing or two about pipes.
