Costco plans to reduce in-store book selection in Kirkland stores [Video]

KIRKLAND, Wash. – Costco is considering significant changes to its book offerings in the new year. The company may stop selling books year-round in 500 of its 600 stores.

Currently, shoppers can find books both online and in-store, particularly during the holiday season. However, Costco has stated that maintaining a year-round book selection in stores is too labor-intensive.

This change would mean that customers looking for books may need to rely more on online shopping or wait for the holiday season to find books in stores.

Costco’s decision reflects a broader trend in retail where labor costs and logistics are influencing product availability in physical locations.
