Developer eyes land near 112nd and O streets for commercial space [Video]

A developer wants to annex 29 acres on the northwest corner of 112th and O streets and create 418,000 square feet of commercial space that could accommodate a variety of businesses.

The request is the next phase of development of East Dominion Estates, which earlier got approvals for single family homes on the north side of the development and townhomes along the west side, said DeNay Kalkowski, the attorney representing White Development Co.

The planning commission recommended approval of the latest annexation, a zone change from agricultural to highway commercial, a special permit and an amendment to an earlier annexation agreement. The council will vote on them at its Nov. 18 meeting.

The special permit encompasses a larger area than the annexation, and allows the most flexibility, Kalkowski said. A mix of businesses — contractor services, warehouse space or some office and retail — are likely to end up there.
