UTICA, N.Y. — Just five days ahead of the start of the Utica Comets regular season opener against the Crunch, the New Jersey Devils waived five players, with the intent to send them to the Comets.
Forwards Shane Bowers and Nolan Foote were a part of the transaction, along with defensemen Nick DeSimone and Colton White. Goaltender Nico Daws was also waived and sent to Utica.
Last season, Bowers had 14 points in 43 games played. Nolan Foote appeared in four games, and tallied four points for the Comets. Daws was a formidable force in net, and should bolster the Comets rotation this season.
Additionally, the Comets in turn assigned five players to ECHL Adirondack on Sunday.
